Imagine this goes on under your nose:
Angellika Arndt, motherless child, born in Milwaukee and a ward of the state.
The above is not inconsequential backstory. This needs saying.
OK, on to the truly relevant material, the reasons no one is to blame for whatever flawedplan’s on about today, the justification, the diagnosis, the deviant psychopathology:
First, meet Angellika:
Reactive attachment disorder, mood disorder and ADHD.
Ah, “behavioral problems.”
7-year-old Angellika ends up in the Northwest Counseling and Guidance Clinic, where she is guided into the loving embrace of four-point restraints on nine separate occasions til one hard day, in the month of May, the unmerciful day she was hardest on them all, well, I’ll let the Hennepin County medical examiner take it from here, who ruled her death a homicide caused by “complications of chest compression asphyxiation” leading to “cardiopulmonary arrest while restrained by another person.”
The Counseling and Guidance Clinic is shut down pending investigation. Disability rights groups cite concern for its other 11 children in treatment. Read the whole story at *Psychwatch.
Imagine what a headcase Angellika would be if she’d managed to survive. People do. They call themselves “psychiatric survivors.”
Few take them seriously, they go off on tangents, are not clear speakers, their narratives get emotional, illogical, guttural, ungrammatical, jaggedy-raggedy and all jumbled up, and often interspersed with a sick, gallows humor. They may lack poise, look like trash, messy, unkempt, histrionic, out of step, missing teeth, maladorous, whatever, something about them just doesn’t seem “right.”
